I love, love, love composition notebooks! Even better than a regular 'ol lined composition notebook is one with graph paper! It makes me swoon (and makes me feel important like an architect or mathematician) (not that I know if mathematicians use graph paper) (If they don't they should...)
I know a lot of people think that lines hinder their creativity and swear by the blank page, well I feel like those little squares make everything I write and draw just a little better (if not straighter). Lucky for you, if you like the notebooks as well they come in lines and graphs and off brands you may be able to find blank pages. You can also buy mini ones! These are perfect for your purse, where you can write down things and forget that you wrote them down (like I do constantly). I know the hip thing to do is buy Moleskins and they are lovely, they truly are, but it's my comp notebooks that are perfect for me and my brain. They are lightweight and thin and I can throw them into my work bag without incident.
If you are like me you won't be able to stand the standard issue book, you will want to make it your very own. If you are like me you will make them all the same color* so they look good stacked on your desk (like something stolen out of a Phillipe Starck designed hotel) BUT you probably are not as Type A as myself and want color and pattern and all that goodness. I have found some pretty good tutorials just for you.
A thing you must note here, if I show you something that isn't your cup of tea look wise (ahem), it's because I want you to use your imagination, maybe the person doing the tutorial is into dolls and country or something you may not be BUT you can re-imagine it in any fashion you like. If you can' then you need to work on your imagination skills and I can help with that but not right now-- now I am going to give you some juicy links for tutorials to re-cover your notebooks and when that standard issue Moleskin carrying hipster whips theirs out because they have had a sudden brilliant brainstorm you can whip your composition notebook out and make them green with envy PLUS with the less expensive price tag you can afford better shoes than them too--so there!
