The goal of Souvenir Foto is to get you to start seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary and to archive your lives. In order to get to our goal we need to start doing one little thing and that's take pictures. By giving you weekly assignments I hope that it helps with the dreaded 'photo block' and gets you in the habit of shooting on a regular basis. You see the more you do something the better you get. There is a reason there is that adage, 'practice makes perfect.' Do you need a fancy camera? Why no you do not. You just need the desire to shoot. I do have a fancy camera, it was a gift, until I got my fancy camera I shot with a 4 mega pixel Canon Elph. I still do from time to time, I love that camera, it's tiny very Bond like. I digress...
For the next assignment feel free to recreate an image that you have seen prior (as long as it is number based of course). A lot of great artists used the technique of recreating masterpieces to develop their skills. I think you would be surprised by trying to recreate an image you admire that your own creativity starts to kick in. This is just a suggestion if you aren't having trouble with your captures, go for it.
I can not compliment the students in the Souvenir Foto school enough for the images that they are adding to the group. They are so creative and really, really inspiring. Everyone has been so supportive and again, having to be accountable for an assignment makes me actually shoot which I am loving. Please feel free to join us on our little adventure.
