Ace and I are foodies. I know that's lame of me to say since I am not an omnivore and I eschew the eating of any type of meat on the bone. I can't do it. A true foodie would eat most anything, a culinary daredevil if you will. I am more of the type that when I do eat, I don't want it to be junk and I want my taste buds to do a happy dance. We both paid our dues in restaurant service many moons ago and when I closed down my business and Ace started his our budget was basically nil. We ate our meals at home--with a flourish. We didn't eat a meal out for over a year and a half an then when we finally could afford it we had realized that we had become food snobs. We go out to eat now and make comments like, "Yours is much, much better", or spend our dining experience trying to figure out the recipe of something we think is especially tasty. I don't think it's cute when people tell me that they, 'can't even boil water' and the best thing they make are reservations (sounds like my mom). I can't imagine life without a delicious home cooked meal and think it's practically child abuse to not be able to provide a good meal for your children (Mom are you reading?). Where is this going you ask? Well, I think I found a group of people that feel similar to me, except they have dedicated their lives to making your mouth do the happy dance. I found a mecca for artisan food purveyors and it will make your inner foodie smile, it's called Foodzie. If you are looking to cross the foodie off your gift list this is a good start (and the prices are AMAZING!). Also, food is pretty safe for gift giving, who doesn't love them something yummy? I am totally going to be ordering for 80% of the people on my list. Feel free to send me good olive oil, I love good olive oil and am always too cheap to splurge but really there is a BIG difference, ask Ace last time we received good olive oil as a present I think the guy drank it.
Everyone knows that vacation and holiday calories don't count, right? Here are some of the offerings I found but trust me there are so much more. This set of mixed spices is a great gift for someone that needs to stock their spice pantry. It's items like spices that make the novice cook all 21 kinds of nervous and to have them pre-blended is a time saver and results will probably be much better than expected. It always builds cooking confidence when you can pull off a good recipe.
If you are going to start a revolution might as well make it sweet. How sa-weet is this packaging? (insert low whistle here):
I hope you have fun perusing their offerings and feel free to bombard my inbox with any and all non-meat on the bone recipes. ..
