Ah, a joy when one can work Loverboy lyrics into a post title. Disclosure here, for like ever, I thought he was singing, 'everybody's working on the weekend'. It never made sense, now that my wrong has been righted it works for the post, no? For the longest time I have been jonesing for Alicia Lynn Carrier to make me my very own 10 dollar drawing on her grocery bag 'canvas'. I just don't know of what? She's so talented that everything under her magic pencil seems to come out perfect. I have been following her progress and it seems to me she really has the insects down pat, so perhaps I need some insects? But then I think pine cones, acorns, fern leaves or feathers might be better? You see where this gets tricky? It's only $10! There is quite a wait but it's got to be so worth it to have one of these beauties come home with you. She used to make these gorgeous, intricate paper feathers that I think would have been sublime in a specimen case mounted on the wall. They too are from grocery bags and are quite lovely indeed. I am writing about Miss Carrier because she inspired me to devote my weekend to creating an art wall. I usually just put up work from myself, Ace or friends but that has more to do with me not being able to make a decision on what to procure than not being able to find what I love. I happen to love too much out there. Too many talented folk to choose from.
Here's my other dilemma--White frames, natural frames or black frames? Thick or thin? A mix of thick + thin? My home is basically white (bright white walls) with a velvet pewter sofa(like this shape), mixes of dark wood furniture and metallics thrown in (the coffee table is silver chrome and I have 2 giant silverleaf antique mirrors). I think I could do any frame colors but I don't know what to choose? This prevents me from putting anything up, let alone choose what pieces to frame. Even though I am moving out in June, I think I should still be able to enjoy my space until I move or is that a waste to put up an art wall only to take it down mere months from now? I would love your input, I know a lot of you that stop by are designers in some respect or just have wildly good taste, so please I need help..
