I hope you had a grand weekend. I feel like any weekend where I don't have to work is something to write home about. I printed my first (of many) letterpress jobs on an antique letterpress on Saturday and it was even better than I could ever imagine. I felt like doing a happy dance every time I pulled a print but was trying to be very professional because I need to be able to have access to the press again and didn't want the owners of it to think they let in a crazy woman. I will snap some shots of the pieces this week. I am beyond proud of the outcome and can not wait to get the Besotted Brand store all stocked up. The setting up, ink mixing, cutting, registering, printing and cleaning can take HOURS which gave me plenty of time to go hog wild in my head with all the designs I want to try out. Production won't be easy but I can guarantee each piece will be a labor of love.
Sunday, I was scheduled to shoot a baptism and I was more than nervous. Truth be told, I am not so sure how the photo's at the church came out. The parents of the baptismal boy had a HUGE family and their flashes were going off behind me and creating wacky circus like color casts and unattractive shadows on all my photo's. I felt like it would be inappropriate to start swearing at the family in a church, so I refrained. Back at the after-party I was so dejected that I spent way too much time with Vinny above. He was really into my shooting him and he never once asked for a group shot (which I can't do with my current lens). I decided that I would be happiest only shooting puppies and babies, because I love puppies and babies. I know it's a little limiting but I have to start somewhere and everyone is always telling me to focus, so that's what I'll do focus a bit. So if you live in Los Angeles and have an extraordinarily cute puppy/dog and/or baby/kid let me know in the comments so I can build my portfolio. I am willing to shoot a few gratis shoots because I certainly have not figured out what I am doing yet and well, practice makes perfect, right?
Miss B.
