Blah,Blah,Blahg

WARPED

Wow, this graphic is so ugly, that I am surprised I am willing to showcase it on the Blahg, but I am seriously addicted.  For those that have been reading, I just found out my Iphone was an Ipod, which let's you in to how technologically savvy I am when it comes to the Iphone..  The only apps I have ever downloaded were photo based ones so it came as a shock to even myself when I decided to download a game.  I don't do computer games, video games or the like.  I can barely schedule eating into my busy schedule let alone a date with Grand Theft Auto.  I don't know what possessed me to do so, but I downloaded a game, granted it was a word game, so I justified it by convincing myself I would be exercising my aging brain.  I chose something that was relatively easy because it was more a race against the clock than smarts and heck I am a great clock racer.  I chose wrong.  Word Warp, sucked me in and this seemingly easy game has done nothing but made me feel stupid and unobservant. I can not control myself and must play for an unreasonable amount of time each night. I even have the Fancy playing and I yell at him for being dumb and not knowing that 'Erg' is most definitely a word that has to do with physics and measurement and 'tod' was commonly used in 14th century vernacular.  In short I have lost my mind and so has he because we are both berating each other for not 'seeing' the words that you can create from the scramble of words.  "How could you have missed 'blank'?", we scream at each other.  Granted both the Fancy and I are fiercely competitive people by nature, so it stands to reason that we would both go over the deep end on a virtual board game.  Word Warp is a lot of fun and it's free!  If you too want to become addicted and berate yourself and those closest to you go ahead and download it today.

LEMON OBSESSION

I have a serious lemon obsession, which is why if you don't like lemons you should never have me cook for you.  I think most everything taste's better with it, smells better with it and it just makes me plain ol' happier because of it.

My other obsession? The idea of planting an edible garden.  I didn't have any  space in the last apartment and the one before that was too small for even a closet let alone a garden but now I have a whole concrete back patio, I am practically a Lotto winner!  It is concrete yes, but there's a whole container gardening movement going on and I plan to take full advantage of the vast knowledge that is out there.  I really want what else?  Lemon tree's.  I would take any citrus tree really but a lemon tree would be my preference.  I think the other thing that has stopped me from diving into this whole edible gardening movement is it feels so permanent to me and well, I don't plan on being here permanently. There's other cities that I feel have my name on them. Last night though, as I struggled to get to sleep thinking about what I would do if I could just walk into work this morning and tell my boss to kick rocks barefoot, I went back to thinking about growing my own grub. That would be one less major expense if I could actually get most of our sustenance from our 'backyard'.  What does the Fancy think?  He said that I got all riled up about this same subject a year ago and the phase passed but that's because it wasn't logistically possible, today it is--I have a concrete backyard for goodness sake.  Am I going to let all that cold, hard gray go to waste?   No way. 

And you? Have you tried your hand at an edible garden?  What about gardening in a small space? Was it a success or is it another pipe dream and I should just contact these folks and call it a day?

URBAN SAFARI

I had been wistfully dreaming of a safari for some time now.  I love Nick Brandt's work and was happy that my boss cut my salary in half so he could afford to purchase an original Brandt for his new estate, I am generous like that. I was inspired by Mrs. Limestone's adventures and kept broaching the subject with the Fancy, which got me as far as, "Are you nuts?" Perhaps. I only had a week off so flying off to another continent was not in my cards but an urban safari two hours from my zip code was.

The Fancy and I went  to San Diego's Safari Park where we paid, in my humble opinion, a king's ransom to go on a two hour photo "safari".  Was it worth it? You betcha.

 

If you are thinking "Miss B has no upper lip and very large breasts", you are correct on both counts. If I smiled any harder I may have popped out of my skin.  This my friends was as close to heaven as I could get.  You may want to meet your favorite celeb, I wanted to be close enough to a wild animal that I could kiss it.  To each his own.  For the record, I was not allowed to nuzzle this giraffe, nor touch her and it took every ounce of restraint not to give her a big ol' bear hug.

Before I left for my trip my photography intern lent me his zoom lens (sucker), which was greatly appreciated.  I usually only shoot with a prime lens which means I have to be in your 'space cushion' to shoot you. With the zoom lens I could be in the safari vehicle and let out my inner Nick Brandt like so:

I was able feed and touch the Indian rhino's which are my favorites, I love me some odd toed ungulates. I just couldn't get a great close-up of the rhino's because I was acting like a tween at a Justin Beiber concert, hyperventilating and near hysteria and all. 

SUMMER 2010

 

We made it to the beach! Yes, ALL of us the pups and all.  It was Bella's first time at the beach and the sand was an odd sensation to her delicate paws she was very tentative with her steps which made her look like she was trotting instead of her usual barelling.

I understand there's some trouble with the email to sign up for the next Souvenir Foto Class I will look into it and see if I can figure out what the problem is.

DON'T EAT PAPER AROUND MOMMY

I got in big trouble last night for eating a paper towel that was in the garbage. Sheesh, it's not like mommy wanted that paper towel it was in the garbage.  I don't know why she was so mad.  She made me promise to be good for our car ride (car ride!!! woo hoo).  I really, really try to be a good girl but sometimes I can't help myself, I really like to eat paper products, its an acquired taste.

TRY TUMMY RUBS

My mommy says that not having to dread Sunday's and not having to go into the office today make her feel like she's floating on air.  I told her to try to get her tummy rubbed sometime, it sounds like the same feeling.

We are packing the car to go on our road trip tomorrow morning. I'm pretty excited, I like car rides except I'm not allowed to stick my head out the window because I jumped out once when I saw a squirrel.  I tried to explain to my mom that I am impervious to squirrel's but she said that I lost my privilege. It's still going to be fun though because it's a car ride.

My mommy is on vacation this week and asked if I could guest blog while she was gone.  I told her I couldn't promise anything because I like to nap a lot and I wasn't sure if I could work a post into my schedule.  I don't have a lot to say except that I hate when she pinches my cheeks like that.  Maybe when I wake up, I will come back with a post of my favorite things or something....

NICE

I haven't been to the beach all summer, a shame since my mum lives only 12 blocks away from the beach (granted they are looong blocks). I have visited her more than a few times this season but a beach day was not on our  agenda.

This photo was taken in Venice, CA last year?  Maybe the year before?  Suffice to say a while ago. It took me this long to finally edit it, I must be feeling motivated.  Maybe it's because I have a vacation coming up next week from work.  Just the sound of that makes my eyes water with joy.  We don't have big plans but sleeping in will be de riguer and getting in one maybe two beach days would be grand.  You? How will you be spending the last week of 'summer'?  I write that with quotes because in Southern California our summer has just begun...

I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE...

First, I want to preface that I know by admitting this, you may think of me in a different light.  I will join the ranks of George from of Mice and Men, Pooh and perhaps even Jessica Simpson.  I am okay with that, because what if there was one other person out there that didn't know?  Okay, here's my dumb confession--I didn't know my Iphone was an Ipod.  There, I got it out.  I know there's an Ipod icon right front and center but I was thinking, well, I wasn't thinking.  Let's not even go there. I am an idiot.  Ace had said for a while now that the Iphone was too much of a phone for me. "You don't even answer your phone", was one of his laments.  I am at work all the time, I don't have time to answer my phone and when I am not working at work, I am still working.  Okay, so maybe I didn't need this thing called an Iphone, but I wanted it very badly.  For the record I use it more for taking photo's, it has eliminated my need to carry another gadget in my handbag and that I can call home with my 'camera' is a bonus.  Now that I know I can listen to music and download books?!  Oh my.

The reason I ever figured out that my Iphone was an Ipod was that I decided to do the unthinkable on Monday--exercise (trust me I am as shocked as you are).  I asked Ace to borrow his Ipod and he casually mentioned that my phone was an Ipod.  Wha?!!!  I promptly set about downloading music from my Itunes library, was having trouble and decided to restore.  Eureka!  Music and podcasts the whole kit and kaboodle are now on my Iphone!  Guess what?  I lost ALL my apps.  How fun is that? Not.  Don't fret my pretties, I found this link that will save all those hard earned apps that you downloaded if you should do as I did. I am feeling smarter all ready.

Okay, so I said I would choose the answer that pulled on my heart strings the most the thing is every answered moved me and I could only choose one so I just did the random number generator thing-a-ma-bob.  Please remind me of this situation the next time I say I will choose my own winner.
